Welcome to the home of First Year Swahili at Aramati.org. This website is a rich resource for students learning Swahili and those interested in studying the language. Please access the Swahili Chapter lessons from the menu above. Swahili is a popular African language and the most widely spoken language in sub-Saharan Africa. With more than 50 million speakers, Swahili is an important language in many areas of social interactions. Learning Swahili exposes students to a wide variety of oportunities in Africa and around the world.
As you advance through the lessons, you will encounter useful and illustrated conversations between two or more people and reading passages which will present more advanced sentence structures and vocabulary. You should pay attention to all the material provided in the lesson as it is carefully prepared to offer you a comprehensive advancement in the topic. Your advancement will be tested through tasks, exercises and quizes presented in the lesson and which you should use to gauge and track your progress. As wth the learning of any language, practicing what you learn will be most important in your advancement to fluency in Kiswahili - your pase towards fluency will be highly augmented by your seriousness and concentration on these practice tools. To aid the formal tools in the lesson, grammar and cultural notes are included giving a deeper explanation of the context and history/use of several of the major points in the lesson. These notes are aimed at providing you with a more real-life context of the material that you encounter in the lesson, and to highlight major take home ideas.
